Candy Flip were a British electronic dance band who rode the madchester wave in the early 1990s. The band were formed by Danny Spencer (vocals, keyboards), Kelvin Andrews (keyboards) and Ric Peet (keyboards) in 1990. They are best known for their downtempo breakbeat Madchester/Balearic cover verion of The Beatles Strawberry Fields Forever in 1990. The name "candy flip" is a slang term used to describe the act of taking Ecstasy and LSD together.

Nice One! I saw Danny at one of the Hacienda bars (did it have an upstairs? I was pretty wasted back then) Strawberry Fields was in the top 10. On the same trip to Madchester we saw some of the Mondays and some of the Roses in a roped off VIP area at the back of the dry bar. We made a be-line in their direction then the big russian from the rocky movie and mr t in a suit blocked our paths... last time I went I think, anderton was on the war path... also the music that night was much more charty than before. Even playing the remix of Madonna vogue... to a momentarily stunned and frozen crowd... Thanks for this blog mate, WATCH out for the impending 90s revival!!! all 80s in the noughties. Nice and easy, lemon squeezy!!!
