RIG
Perfect
2020 Dead Dead Good
Notes :
Rig was a short-lived indie dance and alternative pop-rock band from Manchester, active between 1989 and 1992.
They emerged around 1989 in the thick of the Madchester scene, supported major local acts like Inspiral Carpets, caught the attention of Factory-associated producer Stuart James, and landed local radio and press praise (including backing from Terry Christian). They were even outfitted by local fashion label Joe Bloggs at their peak.
After making waves with underground singles like Dig, Big Head and Spank, they recorded material for a debut album at Suite 16 Studios. However, just as the record was ready, their label folded and the album was shelved.
Thirty years later, their unreleased tracks and singles were remastered and finally given a proper digital/vinyl release, cementing them as a fascinating "lost" artifact of early-90s Manchester indie-underground history.
The first six tracks of the album are the original mini-album as intended. These are followed by ‘Moody (Dance)’ which was the natural follow-on single at the time. Also included are live favourites, ‘B.R.O.’ and ‘Thud’, which were only available on the seminal compilation albums, 'Hit the North' and 'Home'. The final track is from Dead Dead Good sessions for the band's second single, another previously unreleased track.
