Notes :

Elcka were UK indie rock band from London, active during the 1990's. Their line-up comprised Harrold (vocals), Marcus-Sanford Casey (guitar), Rhodes (bass), Matt Barker (keyboards) and Darren Berry (drums). Their sound is losely influenced by the iconic, Brit-centric lineage of Art-School rock. Their first (and, for some time, considered only) album, Rubbernecking, was released in 1997. It generated three singles - Look At You Now, Supercharged and Nothing to Lose. The band also released a number of EP's (including: Boho Bird; Leather Lips and Games We Play). The band toured this album extensively - including as sole support across the USA, Europe and Scandinavia for Morrissey on his 'Maladjusted' tour.

''Soulweed'' is their second album, released in 1997. Review from allmusic.com :

''Whether intentionally or not, this sounds like the heroin user's music of choice: comfortably numbing, pulsing layers of fuzzy/distorted guitars, electronic rhythms, throbbing bass, and exotic touches of theremin and oscillation. Pete Bassman/Bain adds some vocals in a half-spoken, half-sung style that's vaguely reminiscent of a very subdued Iggy Pop. Those who appreciate intricately constructed songs will lose interest pretty quickly. Fans of the album, though, will be quick to note that it's precisely the point of the record to deconstruct conventional song forms in favor of mantra-like grooves and atmosphere''
