nice one ricky!!
great to hear 'dreaming' again, i played the 12" mix of that to death back in the day, which was a lot 'baggier'. .i'm sure they were called simpy 'illustrious' then though!?!?
Yes Drew, i found info on the net that they released "Dreaming" single as Illustrious, and this was their first single.
Anyone have copy of Dreaming 12" or other singles ?
As usual with a Brit band, all it takes is for a US band of the same name to get signed for the music biz to force a name change. Look at classic 60s Brit Freakbeat band "The Birds" 3 singles in some yankee upstarts flew in called the byrds and that was career over for the English band. Apart from guitarist Ron Wood who got some other gigs in the end. GY is local slang fer Grimsby. GY til I die being a popular phrase online from locals. Any way many many many thanks for this and all the other posts. I play loads of baggy n shoegaze when I DJ, and very few venues accommodate vinyl anymore, so I can either spend ages transferring my 12" singles to mp3 or DL them. I try to download only what I've previously bought, occasionally a really hard to find item comes along though. My prophecy is that the 90s revival is round the corner. I'm sick of the 80s now, every indie band now seems to have an 80s synth sound. Hacienda/Baggy/Madchester/Shoegaze and early 90s rave is creeping through as more of an inflence all the time though, ta very much. Look at Orphan Boys new LP. They're the 21st Century "GY" band that make proper good tunage! I just wish I had some of your wants lists to return the favour!
